The Apology of an UnConvicted Criminal

Adventures in Eden

I was a child

A child of god

A child of lsd

I clutched my teddy bear

I clutched a man

I fought with fury

And with grace

I climbed upon the tallest tree

That all the isle did hold

From atop the dancing tree

I saw a family

That did take their repast

Upon the grass

Not I

Drugged up little monster me

I miss the days

The easy days

Of conviviality

I was a wolf

A hungry wolf

A lonely wolf

I snarled at strangers in the street

The rain lashed down

I did not care

Animal ferocity had me

In its snare

I bloodied my face with rage

And to the church I gave

My blade

At the altar of Saint Peter

I laid it down

Upon the green cloth

Of wilderness enchained

I was a man

A man of honour

Shouting loud

Bewildered to be

Of a sudden proud

Yet pride gave to me

The gift of song

That I might write

For my delight

This poem that I give to you
